The Ink & Asana 5-Day Sanctuary

Welcome to Day 4! The Day 4 video and writing prompt options are below. I invite you to review the writing prompts before you play the video, to help you focus as you move.

Take your time, and enjoy this mini-break that you have given yourself: just a few moments of mindful movement to connect with your body, then some thoughtful journaling to connect with your mind. Together, they nourish the soul.

Day 4

Day 4 is the deep release. We store our deepest emotions, our traumas, and our oldest stories in our hips. It’s the body’s junk drawer. Today, we gently open that drawer. -Laura

Writing Prompt: Stress/Overwhelm

  • We clinch our hips when we are in “fight or flight” mode. Scan your life: what is the one thing you are resisting or bracing against the most right now? What would happen if you softened your grip on it, even if just by 10%?

Writing Prompt: Life’s Transitions

  • We often hold onto stories about who we “should be” by a certain age. What is an old story about yourself (e.g. “I’m not creative,” “It’s too late to start something new”) that feels stuck in your body? Those old stories tend not to be true. Write it down, then strike a line through it. What is a new story about yourself you want to bring into reality? Write it as if it is already true.

Writing Prompt: Grief/Loss

  • Sometimes we store guilt or regret deep inside our grief. If your hips could speak for you today, what emotion would they say they are holding onto? Guilt? Anger? Longing? Give that feeling a voice on the page.

That’s a wrap. Thank you for joining me, I’ll see you tomorrow!
