The Ink & Asana 5-Day Sanctuary

Welcome to Day 1! First, watch the Introduction video below. The Day 1 video and writing prompt options follow directly below the Introduction. I invite you to review the writing prompts before you play the video, to help you focus as you move.

Take your time, and enjoy this mini-break that you have given yourself: just a few moments of mindful movement to connect with your body, then some thoughtful journaling to connect with your mind. Together, they nourish the soul.

Introduction

The first video above is a brief introduction, to give you a feel for the Ink & Asana methodology for this 5-Day Mini Course. Once you’ve watched the introduction, feel free to dive into the Day 1 Content below! -Laura

Day 1

As you flow through today’s video, set an intention for the practice. We’ll be moving through 3-part Daoist Breath, a meditative series of sweeping movements and breathing. Your intention might be to sweep away, and clear what no longer serves you. Or, perhaps you are hoping to bring clarity to your mind. Take a moment to think about your intention before you hit play.

Writing Prompt: Stress/Overwhelm

  • Your mind is likely full of "have-tos." Let’s dump the clutter. Perform a "Brain Sweep": Write down every single task, worry, or thought looping in your head. Do not organize them. Just get them out of your body and onto the paper.

Writing Prompt: Life’s Transitions

  • As you swept your arms, imagine you were clearing away old roles or expectations that no longer fit who you are becoming. Write about 3 things you are ready to "sweep away" to make room for your next chapter.

Writing Prompt: Grief/Loss

  • Grief can feel like a heavy fog. The breath reminds us that things can move, even slightly. If your grief had a shape or a texture right now, what would it look like? Write about moving the air around it.

That’s a wrap. Thank you for joining me, I’ll see you tomorrow!
